Orange Coir Matting - Cut to Size

From £23.50

Our Orange 17mm thick PVC-backed coir matting is hardwearing, absorbent and long-lasting. Derived from natural coconut husks, coir has a strong brushing action to remove dirt from shoes helping to protect your floors.

This coloured coir matting is excellent for use in a mat well and very easy to trim with a sharp knife. For mat wells deeper than 17mm simply put a piece of plywood of the appropriate thickness into the well and place the mat on top. Ideally, the top of the bristles should lie flush with the floor to minimise the risk of tripping.

If you would like to see the colour before ordering then we strongly advise ordering a sample.

Further Information

Our Coloured Coir Matting is best for indoor use, where the colour can be chosen to complement your décor to give a very stylish finish. We DO NOT recommend using a PVC backing finish coir outdoors where it may get wet, as the colour may possibly run. For outdoor use under covered porches, a better option is to go for a woven-backed coir mat.

Please note all coloured PVC-backed coir are produced from natural un-dyed coir (coconut fibres), these fibres are brown in colour. The coir is then dyed with the desired colour. As there are differences in the various coir fibres, this does mean that the dye can take in varying amounts to the fibres. This is just the nature of the natural fibres, and something we are unable to control.

FAQs

We've done what we can to address some commonly asked questions about our orange coir matting.

Does coir matting need underlay?

We recommend placing coir matting in a mat well to prevent slipping and ensure stability. However, if a mat well isn't possible, an anti-slip underlay can be used to secure the coir mat in place. This additional measure helps maintain safety and prevents movement, making the mat more effective at cleaning shoes and protecting your flooring. Using an underlay is a practical solution to keep your coir mat firmly positioned in any entranceway.
However, as our Orange PVC Backed Coir is cut straight from a role, it will have an unfinished edge, so if the mat is not placed in a matwell/recess or confined area which will protect the edge of the mat you may find that the edges bend and fray when they are stepped on.

Can you jet wash a coir mat?

No, you should not jet wash a coir mat. Coir matting is very absorbent and should not be saturated when cleaning. Using a jet wash can cause damage the PVC backing to expand, which can lead to the coir fibres becoming damaged and pile loss. Instead, if there is wet mud, allow it to dry and then remove using a stiff brush. Or in some occasions use dry foam or cleaning powder to remove any stubborn marks. Avoid solvents, as they can further damage the mat and compromise its durability.

Are coir mats messy?

Coir mats can be messy, but shedding should be minimal with proper maintenance. Coir is a natural material made from coconuts, and some shedding of the pile is normal and will settle over time. We have sourced the best quality coir available to ensure minimal shedding. To maintain your coir mat, avoid excessive vacuuming or pulling at loose threads. Instead, simply give it a shake to keep it clean and reduce mess. For more guidance on cleaning, please contact our customer service team.
